Summer fun before the back-to-school blues!
What a lovely last couple of months! Johnny and I played lots of really fun gigs in July, including getting out and about a bit - including to Suffolk to play the gorgeous little Travelling Medicine Show stage at Maverick festival again, and to York for the 'Hoedown Showdown' at the Arts Barge Riverside festival. Then our favourite Sheffield weekend - the Tramlines fringe - was amazing as usual and we had a great local crowd at our two sets and also managed to catch a lot of friends' sets across the city, including our crazy Texan friends Wild Bill & the Lost Knobs who were touring over here again! We also did a couple of lovely support slots in July - one for the amazing Whitney Rose on the first date of her UK tour, and one for our lovely friends A Different Thread at the Greystones. The Greystones gig was truly a night to remember. A really magical evening.
As usual I also played some lovely summer gigs with the string band for Feet First Appalachian dance team, including Saltburn folk festival at the very cute little town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and Folk East back down in Suffolk. Folk East was a new discovery - what a gorgeous quirky little festival!
Next up is my first gig for Wagonwheel Presents. I'm supporting the fab M.G. Boulter at Shakespeares in Sheffield on 20th September (see gig list page for ticket link). Can't wait! Then I'm playing the Leek Blues & Americana Festival for the first time in October which I'm really looking forward to. Then maybe I should think about actually getting round to recording! Maybe.
